From Dallas to Denver:

Our 11th Annual Swimsuit Issue

I can hardly believe we are celebrating our 11th annual swimsuit issue. Our very first swimsuit issue debuted in Dallas in 2007. Back then we featured local athletes from a variety of sports. We did the same thing this year but featured local athletes from the Denver area.

This year’s group of models is involved in a variety of sports; everything from rugby (one of my personal favorites), volleyball and track and field to running, swimming, weightlifting, dance and even yoga. They really represent the wonderful variety of today’s athletes who love sports and welcome others who want to play regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

As we start thinking about swimsuits, we know it’s time for the snow to start melting in parts of the country and the sun to start shining a little longer each day. That also means our attention starts turning to the exciting sporting events coming up this spring.

So get ready for these events because they lead into the wonderful summer season of sports. One of the first big events on the calendar in May is the Coady Roundball Classic being held in Philadelphia on May 5-7. But if softball is your game, that same weekend marks the NAGAAA Cup being held in Columbus, Ohio on May 5-6. For you soccer fans, you’ll find the Liberty Bell Classic is also being played in Philadelphia but over the Memorial Day weekend.

And the really big event starting May 26 through June 4 is the World OutGames Miami 2017. We know that a number of you will be participating in the games, including swimsuit model David Smith. If you aren’t participating you can still head down to Miami to celebrate with the athletes and cheer them on to victory. We’ve asked David to blog about his experience leading up to the World OutGames this year and you can follow him on CompeteNetwork.com. You can register for the World OutGames at outgames.org.

And if you can’t make it to Miami, perhaps you’ll choose to help fund the LGBTQ soccer team Zorros Mexico get to Miami. The players, most of which are students with little financial support are hoping to inspire the LGBTQ community by being the youngest soccer (fubol) team entered in the history of the OutGames. Their crowdfunding page can be accessed via Dreamfuel – www.dreamfuel.me/campaigns/153.
